DESCRIPTION:Are you a CoastBuster? Join our new fundraising/wellness challenge this Easter! \nFollowing their successful fundraising walk in October 2020\, to Brest & back\, our Worcestershire Breast Unit support group is attempting a bigger\, challenge – CoastBusters – and is inviting you to join them and raise funds for our charity which supports the women & men of Worcestershire who are diagnosed with breast cancer.  \nThe new England Coastal Trail is a new route\, nearly 3000 miles long and follows the entire coast of England. It is divided into 67 sections of varying length\, starting at Aust in Gloucestershire\, near the Welsh border\, then follows the coastal margin in an anti- clockwise direction around the southern part of the country\, then heads north along the eastern coastline to the Scottish border. The last sections are from Gretna to Liverpool on the west coast.  \nCan you help us complete the walk between the Easter weekend & the Spring Bank Holiday 2021 and raise money for the WBUH.  \nThe link to the map can be found here:  \nhttps://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/970117/coastal-access-england-map.pdf  \n There is more information about the 67 sections and the distances for each section on our WBUH website. All distances are taken from to the Government Coastal Trail website pages. DESCRIPTION:Register your Pink Activity\n \n\nIt’s nearly October\, Breast Cancer Awareness Month\nAs Worcestershire’s only breast cancer charity\, this is one of the most important times of the year for us.  Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a worldwide annual campaign that takes place every October with the aim of raising important breast awareness and funds for those breast cancer charities that support those diagnosed.  \n \nDue to Covid-19\, our income has dropped significantly and will continue to do so.  All of our larger annual events such as our Open Garden Weekend and Christmas Concert 2020 have been cancelled\, in addition to many other events on which we rely heavily from our wonderful supporters and fundraisers.\n \nDespite this\, our support continues to those impacted by breast cancer.  We continue to work very closely with the NHS Breast Care team\, providing mastectomy bras to those in need\, running regular Live Q&A sessions with breast cancer specialists and maintaining direct support with those who need it via phone and messaging\, and our monthly support group.  \nApproximately 800 women and 7 men are affected by breast cancer each year in Worcestershire and our charity is there to help each and every one. \nHow can you support us this October?\nThis year we are inviting you to get involved and go pink in whatever way you think may work best for you.  We are relying on small localised events to keep us afloat in this difficult time.  Please\, get involved at a local level.  There are lots of things you can do.   \n\nWhy not host a Pink October coffee morning for your family\, friends or colleagues\, whether that may be indoors\, outside or even virtually over zoom!  At the time of writing we know we are unable to meet in groups of more than 6\, so why not invite your bubble over for tea\, coffee\, fizz (pink of course)\, or set up your cakes outside with friends coming over in groups of 5 with different timeslots.  \nWhy not utilise your street or neighbourhood Whatsapp groups (which many of us have since lockdown)\, letting your neighbours know you plan to do a table top cake sale\, book or toy sale and donate the proceeds and asking them to get involved. \nChallenge yourself\, your family unit or friends to a target. It could be to each walk 10\,000 steps a day in October\, cycle 10 miles a week each or run a combined marathon between 5 or 10 of you\, each donating.  Simply choose any date in October that works for you\, get in the pink and help raise funds to support your local breast cancer charity.\n\nTo help inspire you\, here’s what some local businesses and individuals will be doing to support us:  \n\nRuth Dodwell of 76 Silver is generously giving a percentage of October jewellery sales from her Etsy shop to us (in addition to her gorgeous earrings and pendant which are dedicated to us).  \nTrio beauty salon are offering a special WBUH treatment for October with proceeds to us.  \nThe Kiln workspace is hosting a Wear it Pink Day with sealed cakes to fundraise.\nVolunteer and supporter Clare Standing and her family are doing some combined 100 mile fundraising challenge (walk\, cycle\, run) throughout the month across the generations.  \nAnother supporter has decided to utilise her street Whatsapp group to let her neighbours know she will be holding a table top cakes and local produce sale. \nAnother supporter is rounding up her hockey team to wear pink to training sessions and each make a donation.\n\nWe will continue to share Pink October fundraising stories on our Facebook\, Twitter\, Instagram and website\, so make sure you are following us to stay up to date. \nHow to Donate:\nIn order to donate\, you can follow this link https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/wbuhpinkoctober and click on the ‘Start Fundraising’ button\, or donate directly by clicking on the ‘donate’ button.   \nAlternatively\, our Fundraising Manager\, Lexi Craigie\, would be happy to answer any questions you may have and advise you how best to donate via cash\, cheque or bank transfer.  Please contact Lexi on alexandra.craigie@nhs.net or 01905 733 786. \nThank you for your support.

DESCRIPTION:On Sunday 26th April – in place of the London Marathon – join The 2.6 Challenge to help save UK charities. \nFor charities across the UK\, the Covid-19 pandemic has meant the cancellation of thousands of events and huge losses of income from fundraising events.  Despite this\, we at Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven\, (like so many charities)\, are determined to keep our support available to anyone who needs us.  We need your help! \nWe’re asking you to join ‘Team WBUH’ and take on The 2.6 Challenge. \nThis could involve either making a donation to WBUH or taking on a challenge and asking people to donate or sponsor you. \nDuring lockdown\, we’ve all found ourselves forgoing that weekly treat\, be it a takeout coffee or glass of wine in the pub with friends.  How about donating some of the pennies you may have saved\, be it £2.60\, £26 or any amount in between.  No matter how big or small\, it all makes a big difference to us! \nAlternatively\, think of a challenge you can do in your house\, garden or during your daily hour of exercise and ask people to donate or sponsor you.  Run\, squat\, sew\, jump\, skip\, dance\, colour – it just needs to involve the number 2.6 or 26. \nMost people are taking part from Sunday 26th April but you can do your activity whenever is most convenient for you. \nWhatever challenge you decide\, remember to follow Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing.  Please follow this link to donate or set up your own fundraising page: \nhttps://twopointsixchallenge.justgiving.com/get-involved?charityId=795939
