Pink October – Thank You

Last month was Pink October – also known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, where people all over the world show their support for those impacted by breast cancer, raising both awareness and funds for breast cancer charities like us, Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven (WBUH) the only breast cancer charity in Worcestershire.  It is usually the busiest month of the year for us and the team were determined to pull out all stops during Pink October 2020 to make it more successful than ever because of and despite of COVID-19.

So many people did such wonderful things and we have listed below the Pink activities we know of, which took place to support us during October:

* 40 people took part in our virtual pink pups dog walk, including one group who dressed in pink and walked across the Malvern Hills

*Ledbury Shopping event organised by one of our fantastic supporters Jayne Foster, which included a number of shops turning pink and supporting (Bra Boudoir, Hus & Hem, Juice Collection, Raft, Rosie Glow Beauty, Serenity, Shanti Shanti & Tusk) and a wonderful raffle with fantastic prizes

*Approximately 60 people turned their Facebook profiles pink with a filter to raise awareness of our charity

*Piston Gin kindly donated 10% of the sales of their pink strawberry & hibiscus gin throughout October

*Hearts for Hope who kindly created a special heart on pink ribbon for the month of October, donating £5 from every sale to us in addition to 10% of all sales during October

*76 Silver who kindly donated 5% of all sales of her beautiful jewellery on Etsy during October in addition to £5 from the sale of the Breast Unit pendant and earrings promotion

*10 different departments across the Worcestershire Hospitals Acute Trust dressed in pink and organised cake bakes & raffles to help raise funds and awareness

*Kings School Worcester organised a pink day and sold pink masks and sweets 

*Harrison Clark Rickerby’s organised a pink raffle and donations 

*Trio Worcester offered a pedicure bomb with each pedicure treatment during October, with all sales of the pedicure bombs coming to WBUH

*The Kiln had a wear it pink day with pink edible treats

*Women Who Worcestershire who have chosen WBUH as their charity of the year turned all of their branding pink for the entire month of October and also held a couple of virtual Networking evenings with optional donations

*SME Solicitors held a pink day with reflexology sessions

*David Lloyd held a pink day, turning classes pink and helping to raise awareness

*The WBUH Last Friday Support Group took on a huge walking challenge, to Brest in France and back to help raise funds through sponsorship

*Get Peachy Female Fitness Community took on a step challenge during the month to help raise funds

*Mill Farm Country Retail Park helped to sell our pink jute bags and christmas cards

*Local shops Anja Potze, Tina Iacovelli, Isabella Rose Pershore and Bella Studio helped to sell our pink jute bags and christmas cards

*A number of wonderful local individuals helped to sell our pink jute bags among their family and friends

*Worcester BID created a pink facebook filter used by supporters during the month of October and turned their weekly newsletter pink to help raise awareness

*Woo Card donated £1 from the sale of every pink Woo Card during October

*West Mercia Youth Justice Service (Worcestershire) organised and ran a zoom quiz to help raise funds and awareness of breast cancer with a pink prize for the winner

*Gaudet Luce Golf Club donated £1 to WBUH everytime someone played a round

*Journey Hair, Beauty & Aesthetics & Cozmetica UK collaborated to donate £10 from every Gaylia Kristensen facial during October, in addition to organising a raffle with wonderful prizes, selling WBUH pink jute bags, christmas cards, a wear it pink day and helping to engage with neighbour businesses to go pink in support of WBUH

*TripelB Beer who had a wear it pink day and donated funds raised from a raffle

*A wonderful supporter who made and sold pink boutonnieres throughout October

*Spire Worcester who had a socially distanced coffee morning 

*A kind supporter whose who persuaded her work – Daff Trucks – to have a wear it pink day

*Barker Moss Healthcare Recruitment who helped to raise awareness through videos on social media

*Helen Digger donated 25% of all sales of anything pink her Body Shop at Home Catalogue and a raffle

*Malvern Spa who had a wear it pink day and organised a raffle

*Stella Thomas Zumba who organised a Pink Zumba Party

*Megan Law who sold her gorgeous boob tote bags with a percentage of sales coming to WBUH

*Sarah Minshull, Annie Onions and Meredith Miller who took part in the Virtual London Marathon

*Marg Morris and her daughter who completed a 100 mile cycle from Worcester to Llangollen

*Katie Somers who took on a 14 mile walking challenge from the Breast Imaging Unit in Bromsgrove to the Worcestershire Breast Unit

*Current patient Justine Carbury who took on a 30 mile walking challenge to walk the Worcestershire Way, a mile a day during October

*A fabulous supporter who held a number of pink fizz and quiz events throughout the month

*Emma Bridges who organised a Wear it Pink Day at her work

*Tiki Room Worcester who had one of our pink shakers for their opening night

*Bevere Gallery who sold pink cake with a percentage of donations coming to WBUH

*Elgar Kitchens Worcester who shared a post across social media and made a donation to WBUH based on the number of like and shares they received

*Hundreds of kind supporters who have made donations directly to the WBUH Charity during October to help support our fundraising
