Pink October 2020 – Day 9

Pink October 2020

We are marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2020 with 31 of the many special women and men who come through the doors in some
capacity here at the Worcestershire Breast Unit.

This is June.

“My name is June Wilcox, I am 71 years of age and was diagnosed with grade 2 breast cancer in September 2004. I had a lumpectomy followed by 15 sessions of radiotherapy.

I have been involved with the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven from the get go, when it was originally the Worcestershire Breast Unit. One of the first charity events to raise funds was a fashion show at Worcester Rugby Club and George Davis ‘of George at Asda’ was involved. This was great fun.

I can remember making a video with my daughter Kate in order to inform people about the start of the Unit.

I have held numerous tea and cake mornings, which involved a table sale and a tombola stall, all have been successful and an easy way to raise funds.

The team at WBUH know they only have to ring for help with events and I will be there.

The Unit is such a great asset to all who use it, as soon as you walk in it has a calming atmosphere.”
