On Sunday 24th September, Mary Weager and four close friends took on the fantastic challenge of running/walking a full marathon around St John’s in Worcester to celebrate Mary’s 70th Birthday. They completed their challenge in a fantastic time of 6 hours 49 minutes which included time stopping for drink and toilet breaks. The actual time on the move was 6 hours 1 minute – absolutely incredible for a first (and last!) marathon!
Out of the 5 runners, 3 have breast cancer history – Mary and Marie as former patients and one runner has family members with breast cancer history.
Mary took on this amazing challenge to celebrate her 70th birthday, choosing seven charities to support, one for each decade. The Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven Charity was thrilled to be chosen as one of the beneficiaries and Mary’s challenge has raised a wonderful £350 for WBUH charity alone.
