Pink October 2020 – Day 22

Pink October 2020

We are marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2020 with 31 of the many special women and men who come through the doors in some
capacity here at the Worcestershire Breast Unit.

This is Susan:

“My name is Susan and I was diagnosed with stage 2 lobular HER 2 negative breast cancer on 29th February this year. After a whirlwind of investigations, and then surgery on 4th April, it was one of the most frightening, scary times of my life. The majority of my treatment was during the lockdown so unfortunately I didn’t receive the normal help and support although everyone I met was incredibly kind and helpful. I had my radiotherapy in June and through one of the Macmillan radiographers, I was put in touch with many services offered by the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, which had been on hold until this point. This is an amazing charity, helping so many breast cancer patients. All staff work incredibly hard to help patients. I’m sure my experience would’ve been very different if it had not been for COVID-19. I am blessed to have met some amazing ladies and am now proud to be walking as part of the team raising money for this worthwhile charity. I am aiming to walk at least 100 miles over this October.”
