Beautiful new artwork

New artwork from the artist Luke Thrush has been unveiled in the Breast Services departments at both the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and Kidderminster Hospital.

The artwork on the walls was commissioned to complement artwork done previously by Luke Thrush at the Worcestershire Breast Unit.  Luke is the brother of Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon and Trust Cancer Clinical Lead, Steven Thrush, and the artwork on all three sites is designed to reflect not only the county of Worcestershire, but also past patients, as well as individuals and businesses who contributed to the capital appeal leading up to the opening of the Worcestershire Breast Unit in 2015.

Cathryn Standen, CDeputy Superintendent, Hereford and Worcestershire Breast Imaging said: “Luke has produced some amazing bespoke artwork for our units at Kidderminster and the Alexandra Hospital. This enhances the service users experience by providing a calm and welcoming environment. They provide a thought provoking topic of conversation during wait times and also provides a happy environment for our staff to work in.”

Lexi Craigie is charity director of Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven who comments:  “Our charity exists to support local women and men from the point of a breast cancer diagnosis and beyond, and we work closely with everybody to support in whatever way is needed.  The artwork across all sites is located on walls in areas where patients sit or pass through to provide a calming and uplifting backdrop. The feedback that we get from everyone who sees it, is that the artwork is positive as well as beautiful.”
