Charity Fundraising Coordinator

Job summary:

 

Reporting to the Charity Director, the Charity Fundraising Coordinator will support the planning, delivery and growth of our fundraising activities while also supporting with administration and the range of support services offered by the charity.
Line Manager: Charity Director
Location: This role is based at the charity office in the Worcestershire Breast Unit, Monday – Friday/on site at events (flexibility essential).  Some remote working may be required.
Contract Type: Negotiable – this role requires minimum 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday with a half hour lunch break (some flexibility will be required with evenings and weekends)
Salary: Competitive salary

 

Principal Responsibilities:

This is a pivotal and dynamic role supporting the Charity Director in developing & managing the charity’s fundraising streams (including community, corporate and trust), whilst working closely with all members of the team to ensure the charity’s activities run smoothly, effectively and efficiently.  A ‘can-do’ attitude and an ability to quickly build rapport and develop strong relationships with supporters, community groups, corporate partners, patients and the clinical team is essential.

A real all-rounder and comfortable getting stuck in they will provide professional, efficient and effective support to the WBUH team, for both our ever-growing calendar of events and in delivering the support services we offer to patients.  They will have the ability to work both independently and as part of the overall charity team.  They will need to work using their own initiative, often unsupervised in a busy environment, and to be flexible, adaptable, and able to prioritise workload.

Principal responsibilities will include:

  • Helping to develop, track, implement and support all fundraising activities both internally and externally, ensuring all run smoothly with the necessary materials and support
  • Help to identify, develop, and manage funding opportunities from charitable trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies.
  • Support with the charity PR activities (including writing press releases) and social media (creating, scheduling and posting engaging content) where required
  • Assist with keeping our website up to date with accurate and timely content
  • Promoting WBUH and the work the charity does
  • Attending networking opportunities and confident delivery of talks detailing the work of the WBUH charity
  • General admin
  • Providing administration support to the patient services side of the charity
  • Stand in where necessary for support events and meetings
  • Act as a point of contact for patients & supporters, responding in a timely manner to queries via telephone and email
  • Develop a detailed understanding and knowledge of the work of the WBUH, acting as an ambassador for the charity when required
  • Become the expert in WBUH fundraising database, adding and updating records, running reports as required and providing support to members of the team

 

The post holder will need to be able to:

  • Organise and prioritise workload effectively in a fast-paced environment to ensure that work is completed within timescales
  • Work flexibly to provide office and events cover, as needed, including evenings and weekends as the role demands (agreed in advance and time off in lieu given)
  • Plan day to day working using initiative to prioritise workload/amend work planning as necessary to meet the demands of the charity
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, medical professionals, patients, fundraisers and volunteers
  • Be the point of contact via the telephone for queries, using initiative and judgement on necessary action to be taken
  • Assist with the organisation of events
  • Attend WBUH team meetings
  • Work independently, understanding when to ask for assistance and support from the wider team

Knowledge:

Essential

  • Previous experience delivering a range of larger scale projects within a busy environment
  • Excellent administrative skills and attention to detail
  • Good general level of education, including a good standard of written English
  • Numerate and confident working with spreadsheets and Microsoft Office

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of data protection regulations, legislation and patient confidentiality.

Work experience:

Essential

  • Experience of working to deadlines and prioritising workloads

Desirable

  • Work experience or volunteering in the third sector
  • Previous fundraising experience.
  • Previous marketing experience

Skills:

Essential

  • Evidence of a caring nature with compassion and empathy
  • Excellent attention to detail is a must
  • Confidence working with people across a range of seniority and backgrounds
  • Ability to co-ordinate multiple tasks successfully
  • Excellent organisation, prioritisation and workload management
  • Excellent IT skills, including MS Office and Internet
  • Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including a professional telephone manner
